Sustainable Community Development through Base Groups

Each youth council detects a need in their community and develops and implements a project to tackle such problem. We invite you to meet the stars of these projects:

Through this initiative and with the support of local nonprofit organizations and base groups formed by a minimum of 10 people from the community, Fundación Comunitaria de la Frontera Norte is developing a model that will allow us in the short term to:

1. Promote the development of human and social capital, which facilitates the creation of a sustainable community development process (SCD) where the efforts and resources of individuals, organizations and institutions in the community join together to improve the conditions and quality of life for all juarenses.

2. Identify and develop community projects that, within the structure of the foundation’s initiative, integrate civil society organizations (CSO) and base groups (BG) to achieve the goal mentioned before.

3. Achieve long term sustainability for the community development projects supported by the CSO’s and implemented by grassroots groups.

At Fundación Comunitaria de la Frontera Norte, we believe that the one of the best ways for the community to develop its leadership skills and express its solidarity and social responsibility is by providing technical and economical support to grassroots groups. Through their projects, these groups can foster the development of social and human capital, build communities, begin to change people’s perceptions about themselves and their environment as well as commit to a process that will help them improve their own conditions and quality of life.
