Volunteer Work
A volunteer is a person who performs a job receiving no other payment but gratitude and improvement of his or her community. The greatness of volunteering is rooted in one’s love for the rest of humankind. This is also the key difference between a paid job and voluntary activity, which is motivated by love, friendship and family ties.
The highest good deed of all is not sharing our wealth with others but helping them discover their own."
~ Louis Lavelle
Volunteers add a new dimension to their communities because their work provides hope for improvement of people’s lives and society, which governments or companies do not always deliver. Voluntary action forms a triangular structure comprising self-esteem, solidarity to others and a commitment to a fair society.
A volunteer is active while serving others. By being available to those who need us, we forget about ourselves for a while, achieving personal satisfaction by assisting others and witnessing that participation makes a big difference. Volunteers must choose to perform tasks that are in line with their skills, personality and preferences, harmonizing their talents and opportunities.
