What we do
Our role is to increase local philanthropy, helping the community become aware of their responsibility in creating social changes and the fact that these changes can’t be achieved without the commitment and direct participation of all involved. For this reason, we offer many opportunities for social participation, such as making donations or sharing time and talent.
Our programs accomplish these goals by mobilizing resources to local causes, channeling them in a professional manner to achieve high impact social investments, building the capacity of community nonprofit organizations, increasing the community’s social capital, influencing public opinion while promoting the active and responsible participation of society.
The Community Foundation performs the following functions:
Make donations
We channel funds to solve community needs. Our donation programs target areas that are detected by or staff’s constant monitoring of local conditions, the analysis of specific problems and as by responding proactivly to ever-changing needs.
Resource development
We mobilize, raise, integrate and manage financial and in-kind resources for the present and future benefit of the community. We solicit and accept contributions from a wide variety of sources.
Financial resources management
We act as a custodian of donated funds, investing and supervising their administration. We also operate with transparency, accountability and precise fund allocation while providing information to the community and donors about the social impact of their contributions.
Provide Services to Donors
We work with our donors, offering them flexible services according to their interests. Contributions can take many forms: cash, stocks and bonds, real estate and in-kind. We accept restricted and non-restricted contributions.
Promotion of community leadership
We serve our community as a convener and catalyst, coordinating different initiatives in partnership with other community actors – nonprofit organizations, corporations, governments, as well as local and international donors – to instrument joint processes of change.
Geographic coverage
We serve the people of Juárez, a city located in the Mexican state of Chihuahua.
Our beneficiaries
We support nonprofit organizations working on projects that matter to the community. In a wider sense, we serve as a link between social investors who entrust us their resources and grantee organizations that make use of those funds to alleviate social ills in the community.
Our operation
We act as a custodian, administrator and donor of received, raised or generated resources. We do not operate programs that provide direct services to the community; we support those who do. Our resource allocation is directed by specific spending policies that derive from our mission; our legal framework as well as the instructions and mandates of donors who entrust their resources to the foundation.
About our long-term financial sustainability
The creation of an endowment fund is an important condition to assure the Community Foundation’s permanence and sustainability. This fund can be increased through different mechanisms, such as contributions solicited for this purpose, re-investment of gained interests, money obtained through service fees as well as other income generated by special projects and business activities of partner companies.
The community foundation’s calling is the construction of endowment funds that are established in perpetuity with the sole purpose of supporting diverse community causes. In this sense, the main objective of building an endowment fund in the community foundation goes beyond assuring its own sustainability.
In its leadership role, the community foundation focuses on social change by promoting an active participation of all members of the community in the solution of social problems. To this end, the philanthropic culture promoted by the foundation is crystallized in the creation of funds that are constantly increased and allocated over time to previously established social causes.
